Evaluation of resistance of flowers and leaves of different lily cultivars to Botrytis cinerea
The resistance of leaves and flowers of different lily cultivars to gray mold was evaluated, and the correlation of leaf and flower resistance to gray mold fungi was analyzed,so as to provide some supports for evaluating lily resistance to gray mold and lily disease resistance breeding. In this study,28 lily cultivars from five series,A,O,L,LA and OT,were used as the materials, and inoculated with hyphae blocks of the isolated strains of Botrytis cinerea via direct inoculation and pricked inoculation. The results showed that the resistance of lily leaves of the same cultivar to different B. cinerea strains was different, and the resistance of lily leaves from dif-ferent cultivars was quite different. Among them, two cultivars,Watch up and Eyeliner, were high susceptible;eight cultivars, such as Trendy havana,Easy whisper,Strawbarry event, etc. were moderate susceptible;seven cultivars, including Trendy santo domingo,Secret kiss,Tresor, etc. belonged to medium resistance cultivars;six cultivars, such as Sorbonne,Viviana,Brindisi, etc. were high resistant cultivars;five varieties, like Esra,Siberia,Zeba, etc. did not show obvious symptoms in the whole vaccination cycle, were of immune cultivars. After the leaves were pricked, the infection ability of B. cinerea was increased. The results of petal inoculation showed that most lily petals were more susceptible to B. cinerea than the leaves. The correlation analysis of the flower and leaf resistance showed that there was no significant correlation between the sensitivity of lily flowers and leaves to B. cinerea. The sensitivity of the flowers and leaves of 13 cultivars to B. cinerea, such as Trendy havana,Easy whis-per and Strawbarry event, etc. was consistent;the flower sensitivity of 14 cultivars, such as Trendy santo domingo,Secret kiss and Brindisi, etc. was higer than the leaf;the leaf sensitivity of Watch up was higer than the flower. Tissue damage would reduce the resistance of lily to gray mold, and there was no significant correlation between the sensitivity of the leaf and flower to gray mold. Four highly resistant cultivars,Esra,Viviana,Siberia and Palazzo provide some references for the utilization of lily gray mold resistance resources and variety selection.
