Effects of methyl jasmonate on photosynthetic characteristics, root configuration and nitrogen uptake in Malus hupehensis
Methyl jasmonate can significantly affect the growth and development of fruit trees. In order to explore the role of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) in the growth and development of apple trees, the apple rootstock Malus hupehensis Rehd. seedlings were used as the test materials, and the effects of foliar spraying of methyl jasmonate on photosynthesis, root configuration and nitrogen uptake of M. hupehensis Rehd. seedlings were stud-ied by hydroponic method. The results showed that spraying methyl jasmonate could promote the growth of M. hupehensis, improve root configuration and enhance root vitality, increase leaf chlorophyll content and net photo-synthetic rate, and affect the uptake and utilization of nitrogen and other nutrients by roots. Medium concentration of methyl jasmonate (2.5 μmol·L-1) had the most significant effect, while higher concentration of methyl jasmonate (250 μmol·L-1) had certain inhibitory effects on the plant growth and photosynthesis.
