Study of land use changes and farmers' cultivated land protection in the Chaohu Lake Basin
In order to explore the land use changes and their impact on the farm households' farmland protec-tion behavior in the Chaohu Lake Basin,so as to achieve the goal of promoting the sustainable green development of the ecological environment, this study revealed the trend of a significant decrease in the area of arable land and a yearly increase in the area of unutilized land,by analyzing the change data of the area of different land catego-ries in the Chao Lake Basin between 2010 and 2020,and applying the macroscopic description of land movement attitude and land use transfer matrix.Further, this study adopted farmers' willingness to use green fertilizer as a proxy variable for their participation in arable land protection, and constructed a Logistic model and an Ordered Probit model to analyze the influencing factors of farmers' arable land protection behaviors. The results showed that:1) The area of arable land in the Chao Lake Basin decreased by 377.47 km2,which was the largest and fastest decrease among all land categories, and the area of unused land continued to increase;2) The effect of farmers' subjective perceptions on the willingness to use green fertilizers was the most significant, with the fertilizer price and the water pollution perception variables being significant at the 1% level;3) The direct effect of farmers on the impact of fertilizer residues on crops and soil concern was higher than the indirect effect on water pollution, and the cognition of fertilizer application causing pollution of Chaohu Lake waters still needed to be strengthened. In general, based on the above results, policy suggestions such as strengthening the management research on un-used land, increasing government subsidies, expanding environmental protection publicity and training, and en-hancing farmers' awareness of environmental protection were proposed, aiming to provide an empirical support and policy guidance for the sustainable green development of the Chaohu Lake Basin.
