Nutrients analysis of Swida walteri leaves and its utilization prospects
The aim of this study is to know the main nutrients in Swida walteri leaves, evaluate its nutritional value, and provide a theoretical basis for integrated application of the leaves. With national standard monitor method, the nutritional contents in S.walteri leaves were determined, and the amino acid and mineral element contents, amino acid score(AAS),chemical score(CS)and essential amino acid index(EAAI)were analyzed and compared with those of some common forage plants. The results showed:the crude protein, crude fat,ash and dry matter fractions were 4.73,2.04,4.10 and 28.10 g·100 g-1,respectively;all 17 common amino acid species were detected, and total amino acid mass fraction(T),total amount of essential amino acids(E),and E/T was 36.49 g·100 g-1,14.25 g·100 g-1 and 39.05,respectively.The essential amino acid index(EAAI)was 86.58,75.96 and 90.40,respectively,according to the FAO/WHO,whole egg and US model. There were abundant K,Ca,Mg,P and Na in the leaves, and the content of Ca was the highest with the value of 36 049.25 mg·kg-1,and the contents of Mg,K,P and Na were 7 004.52,15 458.02,2 003.48 and 1 754.39 mg kg-1,respectively,while the contents of Cu and Zn were low,5.47 and 13.64 mg·kg-1,re-spectively.In conclusion,S.walteri leaves are abundant in the nutrients, and the amino acid composition is reasonable, nearing the quality standard of good protein sources, showing certain exploring potential for animal feed.
