Determination on Content of Total Saponins in the Husks of Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge.Based on Spectrophotometry
[Objective] The research aim was to establish a way of determining the quantity of total saponins in the husks of Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge, for effectively using wasted husks of Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge. [Method] The method was to confirm the optimal reaction conditions according to the special absorption which appeared when vanillin-perchloric acid was used as color developing reagent, and detected the content of total saponins in the husks of Xanthoceras sorhifolia Bunge, by spectrophotometry. [Result] The optimal conditions was that the wave length was 456 nm, the temperature was 80 ℃, the concentration of vanillin was 5%, the perchloric acid was 0.8 ml, and the reaction time was 30 mm. Under optimal conditions, the content of total saponins was 0.24 mg/g. [Conclusion] The determination method was simple and feasible.
