Relationship between the Nutrient Content in Red Fuji Apple Leaf and the Fruit Quality in Western Henan Province
[Objective] The study aimed to reveal the relationship between the nutrient content in leaf and the fruit quality. [Method] The contents of N, P, K, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn in leaf and the fruit hardness, total sugar, titratable acid, and sugar/acid ratio in Red Fuji apples from 22 orchards in western Henan province were determined. [Result] The average contents of N, P, K in apple leaves were (21.52±3.30), (2.37±0.41), (9.72± 1.68)g/kg, And the average contents of Fe,Mn,Cu and Zn in apple leaves were, (99.06±17.32), (32.22±6.53), (3.38±0.53) and (26.51 ±5.58) rag/kg, resp. The fruit hardness, contents of total sugar and titratable acid, and sugar/acid ratio were (11.13 ±0.98) kg/cm2, (113.7 ± 8.2) g/kg, (2.35± 0.20) g/kg and (48.81 ±4.98), resp. The correlation and path analysis between the nutrient content in leaf and the fruit quality showed that K content was significantly positively correlated with fruit hardness, total sugar content, and sugar/acid ratio, resp. and Fe content was significantly negatively correlated with fruit hardness. [Conclusion] The greatest effect on fruit hardness and sugar/acid ratio was K and Fe contents in leaf, while other elements showed little effects on the fruit quality.
