Influence of Cutting on the Tree Competition Relation of Broad-leaved Korean Pine Forest in Changbaishan Mountain
[Objective] The purpose was to study the effect of different cutting modes and intensity on community structure and function of broad-leaved Korean pine forest. [Method] By investigating the indexes of DBH, tree height of trees and their position in quadrat etc. and u-sing Hegyi's single tree competition index model, the quantitative analysis was conducted on competition intensity of trees in the community of broad-leaved Korean pine forest, which were under different cutting modes and intensity interference.[Result] The varied cutting modes and intensity had different influence on competition intensity of trees in the broad-leaved Korean pine forest; the change was the least after low intensity selective cutting, while the clear cutting had the most variation. The tree competition intensity among different forest layers had significant differences with the order of: overstory < sub-story < understory. No matter what the cutting modes and intensity were, the DBH of Korean pine and its competition index were strictly obeyed by power function relationship of CI = A(DBH)8. The cutting had important affection on imraspecifie competition of Korean pine, the pressure of intraspecific competition of Korean pine was minished with the increase of cutting intensity, and the renewal of Korean pine saplings was advanced. [Conclusion] The cutting management should be kept in selective cutting of little intensity lower than 17% , and the coniferous and broad-leaved tree species with big DBH and absolute superiority in competition should be chosen in selective cutting.
