Time Budget of Daily Activity of Trachypithecus francoisi at Jinfo Mountain in Winter
From Dec. 2008 to Feb. 2009,with instantaneous scan sampling method, the daily activity pattern and time budget of Trachypithecus francoisi in Jinfo Mountain Natural Reserve were investigated by focusing observation and continuous recording. The study showed that 9 distinguished daily behavior patterns of Trachypithecus francoisi were classified. They were defined as feeding,rest,moving,drinking,sun-bathing,lapping rock, social behavior, cave leaving and cave entering. In the daily activity rhythm of Trachypithecus francoisi, one long rest peak was found at about 11:00-14:00. There were two big peak-times and one small peak-times for feeding. One big peak-times was about 8:00-10:00 and the other about 16:00-17:30. Small peak-times was about 14:00-15:00. The moving peak usually occurs before the peak of feeding. For sun-bathing,one obvious peak was recorded at 13:00-14:00. In the daily time distribution, followed by feeding (22.56±8.74)% the most time was spent on rest (54.79±13.15)%. The time spent on moving and sun-bathing accounted for(15.37±6.29)% and(4.90±1.52)%,respectively.
