Research on the Water-holding Capacity of Litters in Spruce Forest of Shergyla Mountain
[Objective] The purpose was to research the reservation effect of litters in forest on water source.[Method] The representative locations were selected in forest stand of Shergyla Mountain to set up plots. The litters were collected from plots, the thickness of litter and semi-decomposed layers were recorded, the wet and dry weights of samples were weighted, the accumulation amount of dry matter was calculated and the water-holding capacity and water-absorption rate of litters were determined.[Result] The water reservations per unit area of litter and semi-decomposed layers were 56.89 and 116.89 t/hm2.While soaking for 5 min ,the water-absorption rate of litters was highest and that of non-decomposed and semi-decomposed layers were 1 956 and 1 896 g/(kg · h) resp. The water-absorption rate of semi-decomposed layer was lower than that of non-decomposed layer in 0 - 10 min and it was opposite after 10 min.The maximum water-holding capacities of non-decomposed and semi-decomposed layers of litters were 89.77 and 73.51 t/ hm2 resp.and their available interception amounts reached 62.38 and 164.06 t/ hm2 resp.[Conclusion]Litters of spruce possessed significant water-holding effect.
