Scanning Electron Microscopic Observation on the Pollen of Several Lauraceae Plants
[ Objective ] The morphological characteristics of pollen of several Lauraceae plants were studied. [ Method ] By means of scanning electron microscopic (SEM), the surface microtopography of pollen of five Lauraceae plants belonging to four genus were observed and compared. [ Result ] The pollen of Cinnamomum camphora, Phoebe chekiangensis and Laurus nobilis was near spherical, with the diameter of about 20-32 μm, and there were ornamentations and spikes on the surface, while small coupled perforations could be found on the surface of pollen of Laurus nobilis; the pollen of Lindera glauca and Lindera communis was 3-lobed ellipse in polar view, with three deeper germinal furrows extending to the poles, and their pollen sizes were 50 × 40 and 55 × 42 μm, with small dense holes on the surface of pollen. [ Conclusion] Our study could provide more palynology evidences for the pollen research of Lauraceae plants.
