A new-type extrusion-based pecan shell-cracking machine was designed. The cooperation of the specially designed screw grinding barrels and roll realized the cracking of pecan shell. The roller angle, the grinding barrels pitch and the roll rotational speed were selected as the three important factors for orthogonal experiment design. Through range analysis and variance analysis, the optimum technological parameters were educed,which were roller angle 15°, rotational speed 20 r/min and the twice width of grid. Experimental results showed that the shell-cracking rate reached 99.4% and the nutlet broken rate reached 0.6% , which greatly improved the shell-cracking productivity and increased the mechanization production level for pecan shell-cracking.
