Comparative Analysis on Fruit External Characters and Oil Content of Eight Olea europa(e)a L.Varieties
[ Objective ] The paper provided theoretical basis for breeding olive varieties. [ Method ] The paper was conducted on fruit externalcharacters and oil content of 8 varieties of olive generally cultivated in Yongren county, Yunnan province. [ Result ] The result indicated that thefruit-weight index variation was the largest (40.79% ). The fruit - shape index variation was the smallest (8.36% ). Frantoio' s oil content wasthe highest(22.77% ). And the Manzanilia's oil content was lower than the other seven varieties( 12.08% ). [Conclusion]From the experimentwe can conclude that these 8 varieties had significant differences on fruit external characters. The varieties with higher oil content was Frantoio,EZ-8, Coratina and Adramittini.
