Researches about land use/land cover change in China could be devided into three stages since 1990s’ including initial stage of theo-retical research,rapid development stage of applying theories to practice and continuous development and improvement stage.The characteristics and existing problems in researches were analyzed from 3 development stages,researches on land use/land cover change in China in the future were forecasted.The results showed that great progress were obtained in research on temporal and spatial change,driving mechanism,ecological environment effect and model simulation.However,both the distinction of influences on land use change between climatic variation and human ac-tivities failed to involve in course of study.
