Effects of Planting Density and Fertilization Amount on Agronomic Characters and Yield of Sweet Buckwheat in Baicheng Area
To explore the optimum planting density and fertilizer application rate for buckwheat production in Baicheng. A randomized block design with 4 planting densities and 5 fertilization rates was used to study the effects of different planting densities and fertilization rates on ag-ronomic traits and yield of buckwheat. Results showed that under the low planting density, plant height enhanced with the increase of fertilizer application amount. The number of main stem nodes among treatments had no obvious difference. The number of branches enhanced with the increase of fertilizer application amount at the low planting density of 750000 plants/hm2,but the differences between treatments were not ob-vious. Under different densities, grain number per plant, grain weight per plant and 1000-grain weight enhanced with the increase of fertilizer application under M1 treatment. The plant height enhanced with the increase of density at no fertilizer application, and decreased with the in-crease of density at 400 kg/hm2 of fertilizer application. The number of branches did not change significantly among treatments. Thus, the optimum planting density of buckwheat in Baicheng was 1.25 million plants/hm2 and the optimum fertilization amount was 300 kg/hm2.
