Effect of Chicken Manure Composting on Soil Heavy Metal and Nutrients Contents in Kiwifruit Orchard
In order to resolve the controversial questions of the heavy metal pollution that chicken manure composting was used in kiwifruit production, the contents of heavy metal such as copper(Cu)and zinc(Zn)and nutrients such as nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P),potassium(K),calcium(Ca),magnesium(Mg),manganese(Mn)on the soils of kiwi orchards with and without chicken manure composting were dis-cussed,in order to provide a theoretical basis for the scientific reuse of chicken manure. The heavy metal Cu and Zn content increased signifi-cantly after the application of chicken manure composting, but it was far below the heavy metal pollution standard and did not cause heavy met-al pollution in the soil. The chicken manure composting affect remarkably contents of soil nutrients, which the macro elements P and K contents were significantly increased by the application of chicken manure composting but the N content was significantly decreased, the medium ele-ments Ca and Mg contents were significantly increased, the micro elements Mn contents were significantly increased but B contents were no clear difference. Our results indicated that chicken manure composting can provide sufficient nutrients for the soil, while application of fully fer-mented chicken manure will not cause heavy metal pollution in soil, and nitrogen fertilizer should be properly applied at the same time to ensure nutrient balance.
