Effect of Waterlogging on the Development of Chinese Yam Tuber Grown in Directional Trough
The effects of waterlogging on Chinese yam tuber malformation development in directional trough were studied by setting waterlog-ging treatments. The results showed that the soil in directional trough was close to saturated moisture for a long time and the yam tuber malfor-mation and decay were induced without timely drainage after waterlogging. The longer the waterlogging treatment time, the more serious the tu-ber malformation and decay. Waterlogging may induce the formation of tuber malformation by significantly increasing the contents of auxin ( IAA) and gibberellin ( GA3 ) in the tuber. Waterlogging also significantly reduced the contents of starch, crude protein and saponins in tu-ber,thus decreased the function and nutritional quality of Chinese yam.
