To screen suitable high aroma tea varieties for cultivation in Hanzhong area, three high aroma tea varieties of Huangguanyin,Mingke 1 and Jinmudan were carried out a comprehensive observation and evaluation experiment on their adaptability and suitability for five consecu-tive years, with Fuding Dabaicha (CK) as control. The results demonstrated that three varieties had strong or good adaptability, moderate growth in juvenile stage, medium germination period in spring, purple bud leaves to varying degrees, excellent quality of congou black tea,ex-cellent or medium quality of baked green tea, medium fresh leaf yield, strong or moderate cold resistance. The three cultivars might be suitable for planting in Hanzhong and other areas with similar climate as high-aroma black tea varieties. Also the three cultivars should be planted under the black film mulching when building a new tea garden,to reduce the impact of freezing injury and to ensure a tea garden at a time.
