Variance in the Nut Quality and Organizational Structure of Juglans regia L.with Different Husk Thickness
[Objective]Study the difference and correlation of nut quality, the components and tissue structure of husk to provide a theoretical basis for the improvement of Juglans regia L.varieties related to husk.[Method]Five main Juglans regia L.varieties in Xinjiang with differ-ent husk thickness were selected as the research objects. The phenotypic characters, the components of kernel and husk were determined by the standardized description and spectrophotometer method. At the same time, the cell tissue structure of the husk longitudinal section were ob-served by scanning electron microscope.[Result]The nut smoothness, fullness of kernel, kernel ratio, suture line tightness and the contents of kernel fat, protein and tannin are different when the husk thickness of Juglans regia L.are different.Among which, the thickness of husk were negatively correlated with the contents of kernel fat, protein and tannin, but positively correlated with the suture line tightness. The main components of husk are lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose, among which the content of lignin is the highest, and negatively correlated with the contents of kernel fat, protein and tannin. The longitudinal section of Juglans regia L.husk can be divided into loose area, dense area and transition area. The cell tissue morphology of each area of the five Juglans regia L.are similar, but the proportion in the total thickness of husk are different.[Conclusion]The thicker husk and tighter suture line tightness structure produced higher lignin and cellulose as well as thicker loose area, but the main nutrient contents of kernel will decrease.
