Study on Diameter Class Structure and Understory Species Diversity of Artificial Metasequoia glyptostroboides Forest with Different Ages in Shanghai
Diameter class structure,vegetation composition of understory and species diversity of artificial Metasequoia glyptostroboides forest with different ages(middle-aged forest,near-mature forest,mature forest,overripe forest)in Shanghai were determined based on the field in-vestigations of typical sample plots.The results show that diameter class structure of artificial Metasequoia glyptostroboides forest with different ages all appears the normal distribution,with single-peak structure at middle-aged forest,near-mature forest,overripe forest and multi-peak structure at mature forest.There are 61 species in 58 genera of 36 families in understory of artificial Metasequoia glyptostroboides forest,in which,there are 12 species in shrub layer and 49 species in herb layer.Species is abundant,while difference in important value of each spe-cies among stands with different forest ages is larger,and dominant species among stands with different forest ages are obviously various.There are obvious changes in species composition,richness index,Simpson diversity index,Shannon-Wiener diversity index,and Pielou evenness index of understory vegetation with increasing of forest age.The diversity index of understory vegetation appear the trend of"decreasing-in-creasing-decreasing"with increasing of forest age.Pielou evenness index of different developmental stages forest were:near-mature forest>mature forest>young-middle aged forest>overripe forest.During the process of management of artificial Metasequoia glyptostroboides forest,it is suggested that intermediate cutting for middle-aged forest and near-mature forest,and artificial promoted natural regeneration for overripe forest.
