Determination and Evaluation of Nutritional Components and Heavy Metal Contents in Aerial Stem and Rachis of Common Cattail
In order to evaluate the nutrient components, heavy metal contents in aerial stem and rachis of common cattail and its edible safe-ty,two varieties belonging to Typha angustifolia and Typha latifolia respectively were used as materials to determine the contents of 14 kinds of nutrient components and 4 kinds of heavy metals according to current national standards. The results showed that the contents of dry matter, protein, crude fiber, soluble sugar,K,Na,Ca,Mg,Fe,Mn,Cu,Zn,P,Se,As and Cd were 47.00 g/kg,8.70 g/kg,5.10 g/kg,5.30 g/kg,2 560.50 mg/kg,189.50 mg/kg,685.00 mg/kg,164.00 mg/kg,2.23 mg/kg,14.86 mg/kg,0.28 mg/kg,3.22 mg/kg,316.50 mg/kg,0.007 4 mg/kg,0.002 5 mg/kg,respectively.Se,Pb and Hg were not checked out.The contents of nutrient component in Typha latifolia were higher than those of Typha angustifolia in the mass.Compared with the known data of 104-140 kinds of fresh green vegetables, the con-tents of K,Na,Ca and Mn in aerial stem and rachis of 2 species of common cattail were at a higher level, and the contents of dry matter,pro-tein,crude fiber,Fe,Cu and P were at a lower level. The contents of As and Cd were at a lower level which were 1.25%-1.48% of limited value of national food safety standards. The contents of heavy metal such as Pb,As,Cd and Hg in aerial stem and rachis were confirmed to meet the requirements of national food safety standards.
