Effects of Film Uncovering Time on Growth and Yield of Garlic
The effects of film-uncovering time in spring on growth and yield of garlic cultivar'Xusuan 6'were analyzed in a field study.Seven treatments were set up:no film mulching(T1),film uncovering on February 21(T2),film uncovering on March 6(T3),film uncovering on March 21(T4),film uncovering on April 5(T5),film uncovering on April 20(T6),no film uncovering(T7).The results indicated that all the film mulching treatments were beneficial to the growth of garlic.Under the treatment of film uncovering on April 5,the dry weight,fresh weight,root activity,leaf pigment content of garlic reached the highest level and transverse diameter,yield of garlic bulbs,percentage of primary bulbs,plot yield also with the highest records obtained.To sum up,the film uncovering on April 5 is conducive to garlic growth,and beneficial to increase the yield of garlic.
