Preliminary Study on Bird Activity Law of Anhui Transmission Line Based on Line Transect Method and Infrared Camera Technology
In recent years, the number of birds that live near transmission lines has been increasing, and the re-sulting transmission line faults have often been reported. It is of great significance to study the activity rules of birds on transmission lines to ensure the safety of transmission line operation. In order to explore the activity pat-terns of birds on transmission lines, this study used the line transect method to investigate the birds near the An-hui transmission lines. Combined with infrared camera technology, the activity of birds on five high-voltage line towers was systematically investigated and analyzed. The total number of active birds along the transmission line surveyed by line transect method is 135 species in 18 orders and 46 families, mainly small birds, with large mar-quee birds during the migratory season. Common birds include Pica pica,Pycnonotus sinensis and so on. Highly endangered birds nesting on transmission line towers include Elanus caeruleus,Falco tinnunculus and so on. A to-tal of 11 species of birds were photographed by infrared camera method,of which the three species with the high-est relative abundance were Pica pica,Acridotheres cristatellus and Turdus merula. The daily activity period of the birds is roughly 5:00~19:00. The activity peak is at 7:00~9:00 and 15:00~17:00,and the activity trough ap-pears near 13:00. This study can provide a theoretical basis for the formulation of bird safety protection strategies and technical schemes for transmission lines.
