Study on the characteristic and treatment of the initial rainwater in the Shiwuli River basin of Hefei City
The first-flush effect on the urban area with the characteristics of temporal and spatial uncer-tainty,significant seasonality etc can bring high content of pollutants to the urban river. Many studies show that the rainfall at early stages needs to be treated in an appropriate way before discharged into the river. In this paper, the Shiwuli River, one of the urban rivers accept the initial rainwater from Hefei City,is taken as an example to study whether the biological contact oxidation treatment can improve the quality of the river water.Firstly, the first-flush effect in the Shiwuli River catchment was analyzed;secondly,an urban non-point source pollution model was used to simulated the dynamic change of pollutants concentration at the drainage outlets along the river;lastly, based on the princi-ple of biological contact oxidation treatment, the applicability of biological contact oxidation treatment for initial rainwater was elaborated. The study aims to put an efficient and stable method to treat the initial rainwater, and keep the stable operation of the system. The results of the study can provide guidance for the treatment of river non-point source pollution and expand the application scope of bio-logical contact oxidation method.
