A Preliminary Survey on Transportation Geography of Jiangdong Area in the Qin and Han Dynasties
During the Qin and Han Dynasties,a sea and land transportation network connecting the Yangtze River and the sea had initially formed in the Jiangdong area.To the north, there were two main roads,Dantu Road and Niuzhu Road, which not only connected Jiangdong,Jianghuai, and the Central Plains, serving the power operation between the central and local gov-ernments,but also played an important role in commercial transportation.Since the mid of western Han Dynasty, the industrial pattern of porcelain in the eastern region and bronze in the western region was generally established in the Jiangdong area, and Kuaiji porcelain and Danyang bronze materials were active in the consumer market north of the Yangtze River. The maritime trade along the southbound channel was quite prosperous, but during special periods it carried the colors of war and exile. The archaeological evidence of the transfer of materials from the Han Dynasty showed that the Yangtze River waterway play an irre-placeable role in the direct or indirect communication between Jiangdong and Lianghu,Ba-Shu.
