PFGE molecular typing and drug resistance analysis of Salmonella from patients with diarrhea in Wuhu City
Objective To understand the serotype, molecular type distribution and drug resistance of Salmonella from pa-tients with diarrhea in Wuhu City, and to provide the basis for Salmonella surveillance. Methods Serotyping and molecular typing analysis by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis(PFGE)were performed on 40 strains of Salmonella isolated from feces of diarrhea patients in Wuhu City during. The PFGE typing results were cluster analyzed by BioNumeries 6.6 software. The bacteria's antimicrobial resistance was detected using a gram-negative drug susceptibility test plate. Results There were 7 serogroups and 11 serotypes in the 40 isolates, the most of which were 14 strains of Salmonella enteritidis in group D,12 strains of Salmonella typhimurium in group B and 5 strains of Salmonella Montevideo in group C1.The 40 strains of Salmo-nella were classified into 30 band types by PFGE,and the band type homology was 45.80%-100%.There were 6 band types of 14 strains of Salmonella enteritidis and 12 band types of 12 strains of Salmonella typhimurium. The PFGE band types of Salmonella with the same serotype were homologous. There were clusters of Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella rishonen-sis.The drug resistance rate of 40 Salmonella strains to nalidixic acid was 60.00%,followed by ampicillin,streptomycin,tet-racycline,and the multiple drug resistance rate reached 62.50%.Conclusion Multiple serotypes and genotypes of Salmo-nella isolated from diarrhea patients in Wuhu City are prevalent simultaneously, with potential outbreak risk and serious drug resistance situation.Antibiotic use management and supervision should be strengthened to reduce the emergence and spread of drug-resistant strains.
