Effect of cell proliferation and mechanism via disodium cantharidinate in gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901
Objective To investigate the effects of disodium cantharidinate on gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901 and on the expression of apoptosis-related genes. Methods The gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901 was pretreated with disodium cantharidinate in different dose. The inhibitory rate was detected by MTT assay and expression of Bcl-2 and Bax were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot. Results Disodium cantharidinate showed evident inhibitory action on multiplication of SGC-7901 cells at 2 ~8 mg · L-1 and had a dose-effect relationship. The Bcl-2 decreased and Bax increased were also observed in cells retreated by disodium cantharidinate. Conclusion Disodium cantharidinate can inhibit the growth of SGC-7901 cell lines. The mechanism may be related with induction of cell apoptosis via effect of the expression of apoptosis-related genes such as Bcl-2 by disodium cantharidinate.
