Advances in the application of continuous blood purification in critically ill children
Continuous blood purification(CBP)technique is a rapidly developed new technology and an effective means for the treat-ment of critically ill children in pediatric intensive care unit(PICU).CBP is widely used in the treatment of critical illness in children such as septicemia,DIC,liver and renal failure, pulmonary and cerebral edema, acute pancreatitis, inherited metabolic diseases(IMD),coagulant function abnormality and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS).The common mode of CBP is continuous venous-ve-nous blood purification, including continuous venous-venous hemodialysis(CVVHD),continuous venous-venous hemofiltration(CV-VH),continuous venous-venous hemodiafiltration(CVVHDF),pulsed high volume hemofiltration(PHVHF).Common complications in-clude coagulopathy, hemorrhage, thrombosis, hypoglycemia, allergy and electrolyte disorder, etc.Compared with adults, children have higher CBP requirements due to their different pathophysiological features, diseases and equipment requirements. At present,CBP in-corporates more critical thinking and concepts into its application to the treatment of critical diseases, making it better and better for the treatment of critically ill patients.
