Correlation between serum Gal-13,HIF-1α levels and VAS score in children with allergic rhinitis
Objective To investigate the correlation between serum Gal-13,HIF-1α levels and VAS score in children with allergic rhinitis.Methods A total of 69 children with allergic rhinitis who were treated in Anhui Children's Hospital from January 2022 to Ju-ly 2023 were collected and grouped into mild group(n=37)and moderate to severe group(n=32)according to VAS score.Fifty-four pa-tients with non-allergic rhinitis were regarded as non-allergic rhinitis group,and 49 healthy volunteers who underwent physical exami-nation were regarded as control group,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was applied to detect serum Gal-13 and HIF-1α levels,clinical data of patients were collected and compared.Pearson's method was applied to analyze the correlation between serum Gal-13,HIF-1α levels and VAS score in allergic rhinitis children,receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was plotted to detect the diagnostic value of serum Gal-13 and HIF-1α levels for the severity of allergic rhinitis in children.Results Compared with the con-trol group,the serum levels of Gal-13[(39.52±4.96)ng/L,(49.62±6.29)ng/L vs.(31.55±4.31)ng/L]and HIF-1α[(0.45±0.08)μg/L,(1.06±0.15)μg/L vs.(0.25±0.06)μg/L]in the non-allergic rhinitis group and allergic rhinitis group were obviously increased(P<0.05),com-pared with the non-allergic rhinitis group,the levels of serum Gal-13 and HIF-1α in the allergic rhinitis group were also obviously in-creased(P<0.05);the serum levels of Gal-13 and HIF-1α in the moderate to severe group were obviously higher than those in the mild group(P<0.05);analysis of the general data of children with allergic rhinitis revealed that there was no significant difference between the age,genders of the two groups(P>0.05),and duration of the disease,IgE,IL-4,IL-9,IFN-γ,and VAS scores of the two groups yield-ed significant differences(P<0.05);the levels of serum Gal-13 and HIF-1α were positively correlated with VAS score(r=0.70,P<0.05;r=0.68,P<0.05);ROC curve was plotted,and the results showed that the AUC of serum levels of Gal-13,HIF-1α,and the combination was 0.84,0.84,and 0.938,the combined diagnosis was significantly better than that of Gal-13(Z=2.06,P=0.049)and HIF-1α(Z=2.50,P=0.012)diagnosed separately.Conclusion The levels of serum Gal-13 and HIF-1α in allergic rhinitis childrenwere positively corre-lated with the VAS score,and serum Gal-13 and HIF-1α have some reference value for the clinical diagnosis and severity assessment of allergic rhinitis.
