On the Characteristic of Interpreting the Scriptures with Rites"in the Spring and Autumn Annotation
The book"Spring and Autumn Annotation"written by Yan Ziwan,a scholar of the Ming Dynasty,is an isolated document with distinctive characteristics of"Interpreting the Scriptures with Rites".The method of"interpreting the scriptures with rites"was mostly respected by scholars of the Qing Dynasty, but the path of Yan Zewan's"interpreting the scriptures with rites"at the end of the Ming Dynasty has shown an obvious innovative spirit, and to a certain extent reflects the common paradigm of"Spring and Au-tumn"research in the late Ming Dynasty. In terms of ritual thought,Yan Ziwan's view of ritual has many homogeneous links with Zhu Xi and has the characteristics of Zhu Zi.A systematic analysis of the interpretative strategy of the"rites"of the Spring and Autumn Annotation reveals three main features, namely, the use of rites to view history, the discussion of rites based on facts, and the emphasis on institutions.
