Traditional Chinese family rules contain rich wisdom on reading,which is a precious spiritual wealth left to future genera-tions.Traditional Chinese family rules advocate that the purpose of reading is to cultivate virtue,understand reason,and oppose using imperial examinations,fame,and fortune to tempt children to read.The traditional Chinese family rules emphasize the refinement and transmission of reading methods,emphasizing the need for focused and persistent reading,the combination of learning and thinking,self-application,mutual benefit in various fields,and a tolerant but not pushy attitude.Teachers should have a dual identity as both"teachers"and"readers",taking the lead in reading and teaching others to read is the basic responsibility of being a teacher.Ex-ploring and organizing the methods of reading in traditional Chinese family rules for discussion,and selectively applying them,is an ef-fective way for Chinese language and literature majors and frontline Chinese language teachers to enhance their reading skills and im-prove their ability to educate people.
