Professor Wang Changshun's book Pre Qin Scholars and Sima Qian comprehensively integrates the history of thought and culture,focusing on the relationship between Sima Qian and pre Qin scholars.The research perspective is novel,the academic perspec-tive is broad,and the arguments are rigorous and detailed.Its sorting out of the cultural context of the pre Qin period,summarizing Sima Qian's inheritance of pre Qin culture in various aspects,and excavating Sima Qian's humanistic spirit reflected in the Records of the Grand Historian have had a profound impact on the comprehensive understanding of Sima Qian and the Records of the Grand Histori-an,as well as the understanding of Han Dynasty literature.It also provides a new academic paradigm for promoting the study of Sima Qian and the Records of the Grand Historian.
