Under the background of the new era,the training methods and quality requirements of students majoring in metal-lurgical engineering are constantly changing.The organic combination of ideological and political education and professional cours-es is a necessary way to realize students'feelings of home and country and the spirit of responsibility of the times.This paper puts forward the ways to build the ideological and political material base of metallurgical engineering courses based on five aspects:met-allurgical history,metallurgist,traditional culture,great power and philosophical thought,in order to provide reference for ideologi-cal and political education of metallurgical courses.
