On the Historical Value of Fang Bao's Lost Writings Preface to the Six Revised Genealogies of the Shi's Genealogy
The newly discovered Fang Bao's Lost Writings Preface to the Six Revised Genealogies of the Shi's Genealogy has significant historical value for examining Fang Bao's life and social interactions. Firstly,this article recounts the author's visit to Susong in the past to pay re-spects to the tomb of the Ming Dynasty general Shi Liang,which is consistent with Fang Bao's self narration of visiting Zhu Shu in Susong. This added new evidence to the"Susong Tour"in the thirty fifth year of the Kangxi Dynasty (A.D.1696) of Fang Bao,which is further confirms the authenticity of the trip of Fang Bao and Zhu Shu in the thirty fifth year of Kangxi's Dynasty,and it can be inferred that the time of Fang Bao's trip to Susong,which will help to expand and revise the Fang Bao Chronicle. Secondly,the article reveals clues about Fang Bao's early apprecia-tion and promotion by Li Zhenyu and Zhao Lun. Thirdly,it supplements the fact that friendship between Fang Bao,who has been"forgotten"in literary history,and his friends from the Susong Shi's Genealogy. Fourthly,it enriches the details of the three generations of communication be-tween Fang Bao and the Zhu Shu's family. Fifthly,it elaborates on Fang Bao's genealogical compilation ideas,which are extremely precious.
