The Lexical Constructionalization of"Xburan"(X不然) and Its Formation Mechanism
The word-formation schema"Xburan"(X不然)includes six words,we conduct a study on the syntactic,semantic,and diachron-ic sources of the typical features of"yaoburan(要不然),guoburan(果不然),zhongburan(终不然)". This article attempts to reveal the similari-ties and differences between the six members of the word formation schema"Xburan"in terms of solidification degree,solidification time,for-mation mechanism,semantic tendency,and diachronic evolution from point to surface. Constructionalization includes grammatical construction-alization and lexical constructionalization. This article studies the lexical constructionalization of Chinese"Xburan",hoping to enrich and devel-op the theory of constructionalization.
