On Fang Yizhi's Theory of"Zheng-Bian"in Poetic Discourse and His Poetic Practice
Poetic Discourse is one of the few chapters where Fang Yizhi expounds on poetic theory and poetic criticism.Based on the an-cient Chinese literary theory of"zheng-bian"(orthodoxy and change),aiming at the literary trends of the Ming dynasty's poetry world,and com-bining the philosophical approach of harmonizing the three teachings(Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism),it expounds on the idealized con-cept of poetic development:the mutual support of"orthodoxy"and"change",and the integration of diverse influences.To a certain extent,his poetic practice reflects the concept of"zheng-bian"in Poetic Discourse,while also having a contradictory yet unified relationship with it.
