Selection of the Elite Varieties for Eucalypt Plantation
The high yield eucalypt plantation enters the stage of rapid development in China to meet the raw material demand of the developing industry. To select out elite varieties is the prerequisite of a high level eucalypt plantation. The current excellent eucalypt clones,cold-tolerant eucalypt species in Chinese market was introduced in this paper, and the normal procedure of determining an elite variety was also reviewed. In accordance with the features of eucalypt and the eucalypt plantation development practices in China, this paper analyzed the problems that commonly happened in determining elite varieties in China,such as the time of making conclusion, the traits of deciding an elite variety,the different adaptation features of varieties in different environments, the adversity resistant requirements on varieties. Improving suggestions were given on these issues.
