Comprehensive Evaluation of Ornamental Value of Corymbia ptychocarpa Based on Anlalytical Hierarchy Process Method
Corymbia ptychocarpa has good ornamental value. To better guide its promotion and application in domestic landscaping, this study evaluated three clones of C.ptychocarpa by comparing 15 ornamental traits, including tree shape, trunk, bark, flower color, flower diameter, flower shape, and flower prominence.A comprehensive evaluation of its landscape value was conducted using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP).The results showed that the total ornamental value score of C.ptychocarpa was 53 points, with a scoring rate of 70.67%and a total weight of 92.00%.Its comprehensive weight ranked in the first category(S≥0.7),identifying it as an excellent plant for urban road greening.Among the three clones, strain 1(clone)was closest to the"ideal variety."The top five weighted indicators for the ornamental value of C.ptychocarpa flowers were:flower prominence>flowering period>absence of seed fluff or powder>leaf color>leaf ornamental period. These indicators provide clear directions for its landscaping application. The newly emerged leaves, mature leaves, and flowers of C.ptychocarpa display distinctive colors—brick red, seaweed green, and crimson, respectively. Both leaves and flowers offer extended ornamental periods.Over a span of 6-7 weeks, the leaf color transitions as follows:light green→brick red→yellow→yellow-green→green.Similarly,from budding to flower drop(approximately six weeks),the flower color evolves through the stages:light green→pink→crimson→deep red.
