Situated within the framework of cognitive linguistics and grounded in the theory of meta-phor,the study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of metaphorical expressions related to"牛(cattle)"in Chinese and Japanese proverbs.Through this analysis,it endeavors to identify commonalities and dis-tinctive characteristics in the metaphorical mapping processes employed by both nations.Furthermore,it seeks to explore the underlying modes of thought and cognitive patterns that these expressions represent.By doing so,this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the linguistic and cultural cognition of both nations,offering valuable insights for their communication and collaboration.
