A Study on the Embodied Worship Experience of Film and Television Star Fans in Star-chasing Travel
Star-chasing is closely intertwined with tourism activities, and the burgeoning trend of ce-lebrity-centered travel-known as"star-chasing tours"—is gaining momentum.Drawing on internet texts and interviews with fan tourists as primary data, this study employs the grounded theory research method to explore the mechanisms underlying the formation of the star-chasing travel experience for fans of film and television stars. The research reveals that the star-chasing tourism experience consists of three stages:the mediatization construction of the pilgrimage site, the immersive perception in a state of intoxication, and the self-value creation by fans.Fan tourists achieve an immersive experience in star-chasing tourism through four dimensions of on-site perception:the intimacy of the fan-star relationship, the immersion of atmospheric scenarios, the euphoria of emotional expression, and the mimicry of interac-tive rituals. The star-chasing journey is characterized as a pilgrimage practice mediated by online plat-forms for fans of celebrities.Fundamentally,it is a form of embodied idol worship behavior, and its forma-tion process is also a continuous cycle of the production and consumption of online landscapes.
