Effect of Cable Restrainers on the Seismic Performance of Bridges with Degraded Bearing Performance
As bridge structures gradually age,the degradation of bearing performance may have a significant impact on the seismic performance of the bridge. This paper mainly investigates the effect of cable restrainers on the seismic performance of bridges after bearing performance degradation.First,it analyzes the reasons for the degradation of bearing performance and its impact on the seismic response of bridge structures. Then,it discusses the working mechanism of cable restrainers in bridge structures and their performance during earthquakes,as well as their impact on the seismic vulnerability of bridges. The results show that:after the bearing ages, the horizontal stiffness of the bearing increases, the deformation capacity decreases, and the energy dissipation capacity decreases.Under seismic action, the probability of system damage to the bridge increases. The installation of cable restrainers on the bridge increases the seismic requirements for the bridge piers, but the overall seismic performance of the bridge is improved, especially under extreme seismic actions. As the bearings age,the isolation and damping effect of the bearings decreases, and the seismic response of the substructure increases. The cable restrainers can counteract the negative effects of aging to a certain extent, but their effect is not as good as that on new bearings.
