In March 2020,the Xi'an Institute of Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeology excavated the tomb of a Northern Zhou princess who died in the Sui Dynasty in the south of Zhu Village,Guodu Street,Chang'an District,Xi'an City,and unearthed a stele and an epitaph.Combined with the relevant materials,the stele and the epitaph record for the same per-son,that is,the Northern Zhou Emperor Xuan and Empress Yang Lihua's daughter-Yuwen Xuan,for the study of the North-ern Zhou royal family provides new information.The inscription was written by He Tuo,a descendant of the Sogdian people who had entered China.He Tuo showed considerable scholarship in Confucianism.The inscription not only preserves an article writ-ten by He Tuo but also supplements the Quan Suiwen.Combined with the records of the Suishu the stele and epitaph also have significance for the study of the Sogdian people in the Sui Dynasty.The excavation of the tomb of Yuwen Xuan,can deepen the understanding of the destruction of tombs,steles,and epitaphs during this period.The newly unearthed Northern Zhou princess's inscriptions provide new information and perspectives for the study of Northern Zhou history.
