Abstract
The inscription on the cover of Junfu Gui dates from the middle of the Western Zhou Dynasty.Scholars have debated the gender, title, and identity of Junfu mentioned in the inscription, but consensus has yet to be reached, leaving room for further discussion. The study concludes that Junfu should be a female figure, with the identity of the queen of the Zhou king. The inscription records the Zhou king's command for the new bride, referred to as"Junfu",to meet and be fraternal with the concubines of his harem, indicating a special title associated with ancient ritual of the temple audience, revealing that the queen consort participated in temple audience ceremony, thereby affirming her position as a queen of the Zhou royal family. The exploration of this inscription not only enriches our understanding of the activities of Western Zhou queens but also holds significant importance for further research into female titles and ancient wedding ritual system during the Zhou dynasty.
