Abstract
During the imperial era,the Sheji ceremony held significant importance as one of the state's major rituals. This ceremony served both the original purpose of seeking blessings for the nation and symbolized the territorial sovereignty of the dynasty.Upon the establishment of the Jin Dynasty by the Jurchen, they embraced and upheld this traditional ritual,pro-moting the Sheji ceremony nationwide. It became a crucial component of Jin Dynasty ceremonial practices. However, there ex-ists a significant misunderstanding in current scholarship regarding the inception of the Sheji ceremony during the Jin Dynasty. Some scholars have erroneously endorsed and referenced the misconception that the Sheji ceremony began at a later time.In re-ality,the Sheji ceremony in the capital of the Jin Dynasty commenced during the early reign of Emperor Xizong. The Hailing Dynasty categorized the capital's Sheji ceremony under"YueFu Xingshi",exempt from royal mourning restrictions and held regularly. From the Hailing Dynasty onwards, the Sheji ceremony was firmly established as a regular state ritual.
