The"Gaoyi",an ancient ethnic group existing from the end of the Shang Dynasty to the Beginning of the East-ern Han Dynasty, plays a crucial transitional role in the genealogy of Northeastern history.Originating from the"Beifa",one of three major primitive groups in Northeast China,Gaoyi participated in the"Meeting of Chengzhou"during the early years of the Zhou Dynasty. When King Zhao of Yan expanded into the Northeast and established Liaodong County, the Gaoyi territory was incorporated into this county's jurisdiction.During the reign of Emperor Zhao of the Western Han Dynasty,it came under the jurisdiction of Xuantu County. At the beginning of Eastern Han Dynasty, the entire Gaoyi territory was occupied by Gaogou-li,making Gaoyi a significant source of the Gaogouli people.
