Belt Kua(銙),which serve both practical and decorative functions,have been widely discovered within the territory of the Bohai Kingdom.The materials,shapes,and patterns of these belt ornaments are diverse and varied,but due to the scattered nature of the finds,they have not received adequate attention over the years.Through a comparative analysis of their forms and patterns,it has been found that the Kua of the Bohai Kingdom were heavily influenced by the cultures of neigh-boring regions.By delving into the historical and cultural information embedded in these ornaments,the study reveals their sig-nificance in distinguishing social status,age,and gender.An extended interpretation of the usage system and social customs provides insight into the"Huafeng"(Sinicized)characteristics of the Bohai Kingdom and its psychological affinity with Tang culture.
