Effects of a Bacillus subtilis BSCY-1 on the Seed Germination and Seedling Growth and Physiological Characteristics of Cucumber
The cucumber seeds of'Hanyan 28-6'were used as test materials, water was used as control (CK),cucumber seeds were soaked and irrigated with 7.2×107,7.2×106,7.2×105,3.6×105 CFU·mL-1 four concentrations of B.subitilis BSCY-1 bacterial suspension,to explore the effects of different concentrations of BSCY-1 bacterial suspension on seed germination,as well as morphological and physiological characteristics of seedlings. The growth-promoting effect of endophytic B.subtilis BSCY-1 isolated from strawberry leaves on cucumber was preliminarily clarified,in order to provide reference for the addition of B.subtilis in fertilizer. The results showed that compared with CK,after 7 days and 14 days of root irrigation,3.6×105 CFU·mL-1 BSCY-1 treatment significantly increased the leaf area and fresh weight of cucumber seedlings. After 7 days and 14 days of root irrigation with BSCY-1,the activities of CAT and POD of 7.2×105 CFU·mL-1 and 3.6×105 CFU·mL-1 treatments were significantly higher than those in CK.SOD activity of 7.2 × 105,3.6 × 105 CFU·mL-1 BSCY-1 treatments were significantly higher than that of CK after 14 days and 21 days. After 14 days of irrigation with BSCY-1,the soluble starch content, soluble sugar content and chlorophyll content of 3.6× 105 CFU·mL-1 treatment were significantly higher than those of the control. In summary,B.subtilis BSCY-1 could improve the physiological and biochemical characteristics of cucumber seedlings, thereby promoting seedling growth, especially the growth-promoting effect of 3.6 × 105 CFU·mL-1 BSCY-1 treatment was the most obvious.
