Research Progress on the Cultivation of Edible Mushroom Substrates Using Cotton Waste
The cotton industry plays a crucial role in Xinjiang, effectively promoting its economic and social development. However,at the same time, the waste generated during cotton harvesting and processing, such as cotton straw, cotton residue, and cottonseed husks,is also showing a continuous growth trend. In addition, insufficient mastery of cotton waste resource utilization technology has led to frequent burning or dumping of cotton waste, resulting in the waste of agricultural resources.Cotton waste is widely used in the cultivation of edible fungi and has a strong competitiveness in the cultivation of edible fungi. This study briefly reviewed the application of cotton waste in the cultivation of edible fungi, and systematically summarized the advantages and disadvantages of cottonseed hull, cotton straw, cottonseed residue and cottonseed meal as edible fungi substrates,as well as the prospects and challenges of future application,in order to provide reference and inspiration for future research.
