Correlation Analysis of Tomato Fruit Cracking and Main Fruit Traits
Four tomato materials were used to statistically analyze the fruit cracking rate and cracking form caused by natural rainfall during the mature period of open field cultivation.Morphological indicators such as single fruit weight, fruit shape index, mesocarp thickness, seed number, hardness, quality indicators such as soluble solids, water content, soluble protein,as well as SOD,POD,CAT activities of the fruit were measured, and correlation analysis was conducted to explore the correlation between tomato fruit cracking and main fruit traits,in order to provide reference for tomato variety improvement. The results showed that material 1 had the highest cracking rate and material 2 had the lowest cracking rate. The main cracking types were all circle cracking and longitudinal cracking. Moreover, material 2 had the lowest single fruit weight, thickness of mesocarp, hardness, and moisture content, while having the highest content of soluble solids and CAT activity. The moisture content of material 1 was significantly higher than that of material 2.Correlation analysis found that the cracking rate of tomato fruit was significantly positively correlated with the moisture content of the fruit, but not significantly correlated with other indicators.Multiple linear regression analysis found that the moisture content of tomato fruit had a significant impact on the cracking rate.
