Under the extraordinary context of social turmoil, cultural changes and political transfor-mations,Russian music in the Silver Age gradually shifted from romanticism to modernism, and great composers who have world reputation in the Russian music history emerged:Rachmaninoff and Scriabin.Faced with the anxiety of modernity in all aspects of musical and cultural life in the Silver Age,the two composers tried to solve the problem of national duality through music actively, and ex-plored respectively the ideological rationales of overcoming the main contradiction of musical cre-ation with distinct approaches. The comparative study of the parallels and differences in the psycho-logical dimensionality, expressive connotation and aesthetic quality of Rachmaninoff's and Scri-abin's music styles not only has been the corroboration for the appeal of modernity in the main-stream Russian music creation in the Silver Age,but also the explanation of that their two modern music styles profoundly interpreted the anxiety, contradiction and unity of Russia's Silver Age.
