The influential 20th-century British composer Edward Benjamin Britten composed three Church Parables specially,Curlew River,The Burning Fiery Furnace and The Prodigal Son from 1964 to 1968.One of the most notable musical commonalities of the three works is the borrowing and imitation of Eastern musical elements. The composer not relies entirely on Eastern musical ele-ments and compositional techniques in the three works, but rather surveys Eastern culture by the standards of Westerners and their traditional Western culture, and at last become pastiches by inter-mingling Eastern culture with Western culture.
